Scholarships made my education possible from my undergraduate years at Good Counsel College through my years at Pace Law School. I commuted to Good Counsel and graduated with a Biology major/Education minor. After earning a graduate degree, I taught students Biology and Chemistry in several public high schools in Westchester County. After 27 years, I decided to change careers. Because Good Counsel College had become part of Pace University, I was eligible for scholarships that had been established at Pace. Receiving the Miller Scholarship for Law School enabled me to take a leave of absence from teaching and begin commuting to college once again. In 1988, I received a Law Degree with honors and began a new career as Assistant Regional Counsel at the United States Environmental Protection Agency in the Region II New York office.

Sacrifices and donations from people who understood how important education is, especially for those with limited financial means, made it possible for me to have two careers in public service, Because I was educated without incurring substantial debt, I was able to choose teaching and public interest law. As a way of paying forward, in appreciation for the opportunities I was given, I have provided significant funding in my will for a scholarship to be given to a future law student.
