Successful Alum Creates New Opportunities at Pace

Bob Hutton

Bob Hutton '75

When Bob Hutton decided to go to college, he wasn't overwhelmed with options. He and his sisters were the first in their New Jersey family to attend college. His parents didn't have extra money for him to go away to school so he needed to commute. He decided he wanted to major in accounting so he chose the best local school for this degree, Pace University.

It soon became clear to Bob that Pace was a perfect match. After his second year, he was able to live on Pace's iconic downtown New York City campus, something he never imagined possible. Despite only being able to afford four years of school, he also earned his master's degree by becoming a member of the first graduating class of the joint BBA and MBA program. After graduation, he went on to have a successful career and is currently a personal CFO for two wealthy families in NYC, working only a couple of blocks away from the school that gave him his degree and launched his career. He is now more involved with Pace than ever before. Pace may not have been Bob's dream school, but it gave him more than he ever dreamed possible.

Now a father who's sent his three children on their own path and to their own universities, he's decided to give back. After attending Pace's annual scholarship dinner and hearing from scholarship recipients, Bob was inspired to make his most generous donation yet. He allocated money in his will to Pace, so that students will be able to receive the same life-changing education he did, no matter the cost. Bob Hutton is a clear example of Pace's motto in action, opportunitas.
