A Generous Gift for Real-World Opportunity

William Pfluger with his niece

William Pfluger's Pace education provided him with, literally, a world of opportunity.

After being raised in Long Island, Bill became the first in his family to attend college. He attended Pace University on scholarship and accredits his success to his esteemed professors, who had accounting experience outside of academia and provided real world insight.

At Pace, Bill fully utilized all available resources to get the most out of his education. Through the career office, he found an accounts payable job at Gimbels Department Store. He stayed at this job during the school year and after graduation he was immediately hired for a full-time accounting job at Haskins & Sells, a predecessor of the Deloitte firm.

Bill believes his Pace MBA in International Business played a critical role in building overseas success. He spent most of his career in the oil industry, primarily with Chevron companies, and lived abroad—in the Philippines and Argentina—to aid in his companies' success.

Today, Bill continues to use his Pace education and stays involved in international business affairs with the business and financial analysis organization, The Conference Board. He continues to be a globe-trotter and resides in Nevada and the Philippines. In recent years, Bill even gets back to visit Pace's New York City campus each year—his niece is following in his footsteps as an accounting major, and already secured her first accounting internship.

Pace greatly contributed to Bill's success and he continuously gives back through donations to the annual fund, student scholarships and internships. He also provided a gift for Pace in his estate, so that future Pace students can enjoy the same world of opportunity that he had.
